SEA Games Visualization: Good-to-Great Team Myanmar

Did you know that...............................................................................................
.....................................................................................................................
......................... Myanmar has never ranked better than 7th during the last 10 SEA Games? The status of Myanmar sports had been dark. We had only won 117 total Gold Medals over the last 10 SEA Games, that is, 11 Gold Medals per SEA Games. That is depressing. Indonesia alone had won 182 Gold Medals in 2011.

Now I'd like to draw your attention to Vietnam. Vietnam used to be as bad as us, but then a miracle happens after they have hosted SEA Games in 2003. Vietnam ranked 1st for the first time, jumping the total number of medals from 132 in 2001 to 346 in 2003. The leap is about 2.6 times. Team Vietnam was transformed and has been consistently on the leader board since then.

Now that we have hosted SEA Games, what happened to us as of Dec 21, 2013?
1) We have jumped the total number of medals from 80 to 230. The leap is about 2.9 times, much greater than what Vietnam did in 2003.
2) We have jumped the total number of gold medals from 16 to 84. It is 5.25 times. I'd say that's impressive. No other country has made such an improvement within two years.
3) We are currently ranking 2nd for gold medal tally, following behind our neighbor Thailand. As much as we would want to be on top of the leader board, Team Thailand has been the strongest in SEA Games, always ranking either 1st or 2nd. Still we are not that far behind from Thailand.

I am now going to borrow the business model terminologies from Jim Collins. Team Vietnam has surely transformed from "Good-to-Great" and has been "Built-to-Last" since 2003. They did it 10 years ago. It's our turn now and we can do it.

Let's keep the momentum up, guys! We can kick more asses in 2015. And again, CONGRATULATIONS to everyone for your hard work. Proud Hnininha is keeping track of your medals.
